Leicester Riders faced team Northumbria at home in their final WBBL game for 2014

Leicester Riders had uncertain start of the game and Team Northumbria took advantage of the moment to scored easy 4 points. However, Maia and Maaja Bratka again were unstoppable in offence and quickly returned Riders in the game. Good defence by Natalie Chaloner and precise shooting by Georgia Jones helped Riders to keep up with Northumbria’s tempo but was not enough and Northumbria took 42-24 advantage into the second half of the game.

Many turnovers at the beginning of the second half accompanied both teams but Kastine Evans was able opened the game for Riders with a great three pointer. The game was extremely competitive and at the end of the third period Riders scored 19 points whilst Northumbria added 17 in their account (43-59). In the final ten minutes the guests put a lot of effort in their defence forcing Riders to lose the possession of the ball very easy. Once in front, Northumbria did not look back and took 86-51 victory.

Maaja Bratka, who was named Molten Player of the Month by WBBL, led the scoring for the Riders with 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Robyn Lewis finished with 8 points and twelve rebounds, whilst point guard Kastine Evans added 8 points.
