Leicester Riders took a 105-58 victory over USA Select to close out a successful opening weekend in front of another packed arena!

Riders began the game behind the hot shooting of Tyler Bernardini taking a narrow lead after the first five minutes, 15-11. Watson then exploded offensively in the second quarter, getting to the hoop before knocking down two three to extend the Riders lead to 31-17.

The second half saw some great ball movement for the home side as Riders guards Washington and Roland joined in the scoring.

Big man Rashad Hassan came alive in second half, racking up a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds as he continues to show he is ready for his second season in the BBL.

Riders proved too much for the visiting Select side and pulled away to a 105-58 victory over the USA.

Coach Rob Paternostro was pleased to pick up the two wins and head back to a the practice floor this week.

“It was an excellent weekend for us, it was great to have the guys playing together. We haven’t practiced together too much and I really saw some good ball movement and good defence at time but there is still lots to work on. It was a really full house here too so it was a very positive weekend for the club.”

Rashad Hassan led the scoring with 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds whilst Neil Watson finished with 16 points and 6 assists in his first start for the club.

Riders are in action again this Friday against Rio Nature Monbus and then again on Sunday vs Okapi Aalstar!
