On Sunday the 9th of May 2010 Leicester City Football Club played their highly anticipated play-off game against Cardiff City. Unfortunately the Foxes surrendered a goal via a free kick to Cardiff’s Peter Whittingham 12 minutes from time.

Another highlight of the game was an entertaining set of free kicks, which were taken by Leicester Rider’s Coach Rob Paternostro, along with other sporting icons such as Matt Elliott, Gerry Taggart, Geordan Murphy, and Kasabian’s Tom Meighan, all of whom participated in a half time Shoot Out! Although we would have liked to be able to announce that Rob scored his penalty… This was sadly not the case… He kicked a professional looking ball which seemed to fly effortlessly towards the top right corner of the net, but unfortunately the ball skimmed the top bar – which caused it to shoot downwards just shy of the line.

We’ll just take it as a sign that he shouldn’t switch sports any time soon. Rob himself said “It was an incredible experience to be part of a Leicester City playoff match, the atmosphere was fantastic and the people of Leicester City were great. When I hit the penalty I thought it was in, but hopefully I’ll get another chance.”
